Surround Yourself With People Who Are Going To Lift You Higher...

You guys! It has been a rough few weeks. I had a falling out with a friend and I have never had to unfriend someone in my adult life. All I can say is it just "really sucked." I am finally over it and moving on. I realized the other day, I am almost 50 years old. (Ok, ok, I have a few more years to go but its getting close) I never stick up for myself, always over commit to things and still can't figure out how to say "No" to things half of the time. I make all of these little beautiful mantra paintings about bravery and love, and don't even follow my own advice. I want to surround myself with people that help me rise up, not tear me down or point jabs at my family. I had to make a hard decision to let someone go, and I had to be ok with it...and you know what? I am. I actually feel really good about it. For once in my life I stood up for myself and won't be bullied by someone else.

My Surround Yourself Painting in Progress

When painting, I usually paint two at a time.

There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people that create it. Surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people that treat you right and get rid of the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy.

My latest painting "Surround Yourself"

Here is my latest finished painting that I created today. I just love how it turned out, it is so colorful! I am working on a more primitive style of girl face. It has been really fun to try some new shading techniques with blues and greens and I also have been adding in some more pencil work. The fun messiness of this painting comes across child-like and happy! I am thinking I might make this one into a card, what are your thoughts on this? Is it good card material?

You can see most of my card in my Etsy store, or if you are local head on over to Lil' Tugs in downtown Anacortes.
